Should you get a flu shot?
A yearly flu shot is recommended for
- Adults 50 and over
- People with chronic heart or lung conditions including asthma
- People less able to fight infection because of a disease they are born with; infection with HIV
- Residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities housing anyone with chronic medical conditions
- Pregnant women or families of newborns
- People who are exposed to people in high-risk groups such as health care workers, people who live in high-risk group environment
- Children and teenagers 6 months to 18 years of age who are on long-term aspirin treatment
